As Gilbert’s densest employment center, the Northwest Employment Area is primarily composed of light industrial and back-office space in the science, technology, aerospace, and manufacturing industries. This employment area is also home to the Heritage District, Gilbert’s downtown core.

The Banner Employment Area is located near the northeast corner of Gilbert’s municipal borders, just south of the US 60 Superstition Freeway. This employment area primarily consists of healthcare-related research and development, services, and treatments.

The Gateway Employment Area is located along Gilbert’s eastern municipal border, adjacent to Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport (of which Gilbert is a part owner), and divided by the Arizona Loop 202 San Tan Freeway. Also in close proximity to Arizona State University’s Polytechnic Campus, this employment area has nearly 1,000 acres of undeveloped commercial property and consists of large retail developments and aerospace and aviation firms.

Gilbert’s Central Employment Area offers vast opportunities for investment. The district is located off of the 202 Freeway, in close proximity to Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport, Arizona State University Polytechnic Campus, and Chandler-Gilbert Community College. Some of the defining characteristics of this district include fully improved roadways and utility infrastructure, a designated Vertical Height Overlay, and a diverse mix of retail, office, and industrial oriented developments.
